Design & Artwork Guidelines
Our Artwork services
We can produce advert designs and finished artwork for you. Please supply a rough layout sketch, with colours specified, along with logos or special matter required. Digital files are preferred, but we can work from existing printed matter.
Advert Sizes
Each title has a template size; these are the advert area sizes. If you supply your own artwork, we can resize it to fit different template sizes.
Colours
We print calendars using single spot-colours. You should specify your desired colour at the time of ordering. Otherwise, we print to your Pantone instructions (special colours may be simulated through the CMYK process). If more than one spot colour is required, additional charges will apply. Creating Your Own Artwork
We can accept professional art working applications: QuarkXpress, Freehand, Illustrator, or InDesign. Please keep to the generic format. If no editing is required, convert to paths or outlines otherwise supply all fonts. Alternatively, you may supply files as editable eps or pdf (1.3) with fonts embedded. All pdfs must be press optimised. If supplying your own artwork, please specify the application used and ensure artwork is actual template size.
Logos & Four-Colour Process
Logos should be supplied in the generic file format of the application, or as editable eps or pdf files. Files as tiff or jpeg used only for single colour or four-colour production. Duotones or tritones need to use spot colours specified on your order. Complex logos or images will need a colour-accurate proof i.e. Iris or Matchprint. We will produce your artwork from these for your approval. Prices on request.
Sending Your Artwork
Always send hard copy with discs or a low resolution composite with e-mails. Any text not converted to paths or outlines must have fonts supplied. We can accept CD and DVD discs, files can also be transmitted by e-mail.
Proofing
A full proofing service will enable you to check your advert details before we manufacture your goods (where straight repeats are concerned and a signed proof from the previous year is supplied, we will not proof unless specified).
